I've chased this topic all over the Internet in the last couple of days, and have read a bewildering array of posts and articles that never quite provide the answer to my question. Can I replace the aluminum grip frame on my old model Single Six with a steel grip frame, and if so, how (short of sending it to Ruger)?
I see that Midway offers a steel frame, but I'm shaky on the details.

Is this frame blued steel? Whether it's steel or anodized aluminum, fitting means filing, so why is the grip frame 'blued' in the picture? I guess I need to hear from someone who has done this.
Thanks!
