Old savage semi pistol

A friend has inherited an old Savage .32 semi-auto pistol.. He'd like to contact someone that knows something about these old pistols..
Any help is appreciated... (is EddieCoyle still around here?)

Just what is it you want to know? Not being smart but try googling (savage auto pistol 1907). Lots & lots of info there. I have one in excellent shape but have never shot it.

i have bin trying to get my hands on one of those so i can legally carry under 21 since its a C&R. From what i heard its the only pistol that savage made which makes it a collectors item. I was going to get mine duracoated in 2 tone. my first rifle ever was a .22 LR savage mk2 trust my life with it.

Well Dura-Coat sure won't help the collector's value any.

Don't Refinish!

I would not refinish that Savage. IF it is clean looking with only minor wear, leave it as is and just clean it after using and oil the finish. The value will drop like a rock if you duro coat it.

On a side note, you might want to check to see if carrying the Savage 1907 would be legal without a FL CWL. I think that law only applies to legal antiques (pre 1899) in some states. You may have a C&Relic but not a legal antique. At least you know you are legal having any handgun in your car's glovebox or console loaded without a CWL in FL at age 18. That is much better than a lot of states.

I don't know about the law in Florida, but most places, the age of the gun does not matter if you are seen to be carrying it "for the purpose of going armed." And you do not want to pay a lawyer to argue the point in court.

Savage also made a single shot .22 pistol that looked like a single action revolver. Maybe in the 1960's. I have the 1907 version. Neat little pistol.
