I have a place in northern Wisconsin, a few miles east of Eagle River, in the Nicolet National Forest. I always shoot/hunt there as our property is almost completely surrounded by national forest property.

I heard that open carry is allowed in Wisconsin. I also heard that residents of other states are allowed to open carry in Wisconsin as well.

I do a lot of running, and will be doing it alone up there on my next vacation, to take out the boats/docks and turn off the water. I'd rather not run down a trail and head straight into a black bear or a person that wanted my money etc...you never know.

Now here is the question.

Is it legal to open carry in National Forests in Wisconsin, or are their laws different?

Will running down a public road while open carrying in Wisconsin be a problem?

If it is legal, but will still be a problem to do and could get me in trouble, then I would rather not do it.

Are there any DNR regulations I have to follow while open carrying on a hike or trail in the national forest?

Thanks, personal experiences from people in the area are better than links...every try navigating that dnr website? Could not find any info on DNR carry regulations in national forests.
