I'm going to have my gunsmith blast my Redhawk to a matte grey finish, but I want the trigger and hammer to have a case hardened look.......and it's stainless.

Is there anyway to achieve a similar look with stainless steel? Or any ideas that might look good with a matte grey finish?

I don't really want to replace the trigger and hammer with carbon steel, but if I have to.......

I suggest you go for polishing to contrast with the dull finish. Be sure to leave the bearing surfaces alone, especially the trigger internal area. I did this on my S&W 686-6 and am happy to get rid of the faux case-hardened look on trigger and hammer.

I have a 45 Colt Redhawk with a blast finish and ported, a pic of which will give you some idea of what to expect. Personally, I prefer the trigger and hammer to match.

Here is a S&W 625 PC with "blued" trigger, hammer, ejector rod, and cylinder release, the sum of which I don't particularly like. The whole gun is kind of goofy looking but serves its purpose.

Stainless can't be case colored. I don't remember if the blued Redhawks had carbon steel hammer and trigger or if they were stainless. Might be tough parts to find.

What holster is this?

Thanks all.

I don't remember what media my guy said he was going to blast it with, but he said it would come out very grey, which I would like.

If it's as grey as he described, I'm not sure a secondary "color" for the trigger and hammer wouldn't look pretty good?

The Redhawk 45 Colt is pictured with the Galco DAO holster (Dual Action Outdoorsman). The cross draw cant is exceptional, but strong side is straight up.

If you use the earlier picture of the S&W 625 PC as a guide, contrasting parts that are too dark can look like they belong to a different gun, a cheesy attempt at gun art.
