I stopped into my lgs yesterday and noticed they had a few 9mm polymer Baby Desert Eagles on hand for $499. I have never fired one, but it feels comfortable in my hands and the DA trigger pull doesn't feel excessively heavy, in fact, it's very similar to my Beretta PX4. It would be used exclusively as a range gun. Any comments or opinions from Desert Eagle users as to performance, reliability, Magnum Research customer support, etc?

I owned one, keyword owned.
It was a great, solid pistol, don't get me wrong. But for all the other options out there in 9mm for the same budget, I felt like I needed to move on.
That being said, a friend of mine bought one at the same time I did, and still owns it, and loves it. Shoots well, that nice heavy slide kept the muzzle down IMO. I was impressed with this pistol for what it was. But it just wasn't for me. Good luck to ya!

I have a Baby Eagle 9mm, but not the poly. 40oz of steel. Purchased new last year. Have 3 to 3.5k through it. never a hickup! Love the heft of it. Been shooting some Berrys 115 plated at about 900fps. Excellent match up. Marty

A friend of mine bought one, and soon sold it. It was an OK gun, just didn't grab him like the steel one does. I felt the same way, the steel one is a great gun, as are all the Tanfoglio made guns, but the poly gun is, well, nothing special, in looks or function.
