Not cool. What I'm getting from this is that they consider all of the listed guns "assault weapons", and as such, they would be made illegal if a ban were to pass. It was stated that a firearm would be considered "unsuitable for sporting use"(and therefore an assault weapon)if the military or a government agency had purchased it for use! Like the Remington 870, one of the(if not THE)most popular guns used for hunting(at least in my home state).

It is like when a buddy of mine took in several broken guns to a buy back and then bought a functional Glock 17 with the proceeds several years ago.

The opportunist in me wants to take advantage of this; the Libertarian in me wants nothing to do with it. The whole point of this bill is to ultimately eliminate firearms by paying people off. The gun-grabbers will do anything to remove firearms- it's pathetic.

I think the NRA should jump all over this. Flood the t.v. with adds letting everyone know with $200 hi points and $600 ( now) AK's know what they can look foward to. Not mention shotguns and the such. Heck i know a couple guys who would probably turn in $40000 worth of tax credit and still have plenty at home. This alone would probably bankrupt the country.

The "progressives", as usual, have not given thought to the unintended consequences of their actions. They're practically begging to redistribute taxpayer money to increase gun ownership and support pro-2A causes and candidates.

I know you are on my side of this issue so I'll keep it short and sweet. Please oppose HR 226. I'm a strong supporter of the second amendment and don't want my tax dollars going to any federal "buy back" program designed to remove lawfully owned firearms for the citizens of the United States. In addition, this would be especially dim-witted given our current national debt and deficit. We gun owners need to “pay our fair share”.

I believe this bill states you can only get the one tax credit for $2000 per year. I'd guess that would be to stop people from doing what you guys are suggesting. It also seems to me that for this to be effective at "stopping crime" or whatever they think(not that it ever actually would be)they would have to outlaw the guns they are buying back so you can't just go buy some more. We shouldn't get excited about BS like this, just because we think it will make us some money. It all serves the same purpose, and master.
