Aimpoint 4 moa Comp ML2 if you don't use Night Vision or Comp M2 if you do. Best price on web as far as i know is $350 form here.

Or the newer Comp C3 etc etc. Aimpoint or EOTech for Optic.

If you want a scope Bushnell and Nikon build good mid grade stuff under $500.

save up another month or two and get a 1-4x meopta or maybe look for a used one

No offence but he could get the Millett DMS for way way under the $500 mark and end up with a very similar scope to the Meopta. Heck for the $750 those things cost a lot of comparisons could be made against some really good stuff.

Leupold VX III in something low powered. 200 yards isn't that far and doesn't need a lot of magnification for anything short of paper punching. If you are shooting for groups then everything changes and more magnification is better.

no offense taken. i have no experience with the milletts, but i know the meoptas are good. he could get an NCStar for less than the millett :)

Well,I put a Burris Fullfield II Tactical 3 X 9-40 in Burris Xtreme rings on my 308AP4,and like it a lot.The rifle is quite accurate, and deserves a magnified optic.

ive been debating the same thing. Mine will mostly be used for hunting as ive got enough ars for battle guns. Ive kind of settled on a a trigicon 3x9x40 with lighted crosshairs vs the post. The gun will also be used for long range shooting and the post isnt the best for hold over. Now if theyd make me a 1.5x5 version with a lighted mildot id be in heaven. There a little out of the price range you quoted though. They do have great optics and one big plus is you never have to turn it on or off and theres no batterys to wear out.

No,my rifle came with a detachable carry handle, which I removed,so I do not have iron sights.I will try to take a pic,but don't know how it will work out.My photographic/internet skills are 200 years behind my firearms skills.:)

ACOG would be ideal, in my opinion, but out of your price range.

I have an Eo-Tech with 4x flip away magnifier on my 5.56 and I like it. The magnifier add would put it out of your price range but you could use an EoTech or Aimpoint (I prefer the sight picture of an EoTech over the Aimpoint) and add a magnifier later as your budget allows.

If you're not worried about CQB at all, I'd go with an actual scope. You don't need anything more than about 10x at 200 yards. Leupold has plenty to offer in that size and your budget. I've owned Leupold scopes all across their quality board (Rifleman, VX-III, VX-L, Mk4) and have had no complaints on any of them.
