We had a good trip October 1-5 in the Silvies unit, just North of the Ochoco National forest. Six hunters. The two bucks on the left were shot opening morning. The next big one was shot the next day and the one on the right was on the third day. That was mine. There was a larger three point in the herd and as they filtered by I saw three points and shot. Turned out that this guy was a glorified forked horn. He really tastes good.
There were some additional large bucks around for the first two days. we didn't get a shot, and a few smaller bucks around that the guys passed on.
I shot mine with a 300 wsm BAR. 150 gr. Hornady SST. I got a lot of touble for shooting the smallest deer with the biggest gun.
