I've lately been wanting an original Pepperbox for some reason. I guess since I was a little kid they always appealed to me. I think it was the game Clue that made me like them..."Col. Mustard in the Study with the Revolver!"

Anyway, I'd love to see some other members Pepperboxes if you have some to share. Also whats the market like for them? I recently lost an allen and thurber on gunbroker. I had a max of $350 on it and someone sniped it for $355. So I'm going to keep looking. I think I really want an Allen pepperbox. Thoughts?
Does anyone here shoot an original pepperbox?

Shoot. I should have taken a few pics last weekend. We took some out-of-town guests through the new(-ish) Gettysburg National Military Park museum and I noticed they had a better collection of pepperbox revolvers than I've seen in one place. Didn't think to snap a shot, though.

Pepperbox pistol: Original or Repro?

Below is a pic of a pepperbox pistol I have had for many years. Is there any way to tell how old it is? Or if it is an "original" or repro? There are no markings or numbers on it at all; it appears pretty old, but.... I really don't have a clue. Any hints as to how to tell original vs. repro and maybe the value on it would be appreciated.

msmp5,

What ever it is it surelooks nice and I like it. I am amazed at what the modern interpitations from classic arms go for on the auction sites sometimes. And those are to be honest awful. I ended up with one only because working originals were to expensive for me to do ore than fondle and thank the owners for allowing me to do so.

I feel that pepperboxes get over looked in the entertainment world and among most BP fans.

Yeah, it is in great condition. I'm just curious if it is an old original gun, or a more modern repro. Do you have any idea, kBob? (Or anyone else?)

I'm a big fan of pepperboxes. I know a guy who has an old Allen and Thurber pepperbox.
