This past weekend was the best $70 I've spent in a long time!
Two intense days of rifleman training: offhand, sitting, prone, mag changes, timed courses of fire, ball and dummy drills, and more! The instructors are all volunteers and were excellent, they came from all over the country to teach us a little American history and the skills to become riflemen.

If you've never been to an Appleseed event, you really need to set aside some time and spend one or two days with these folks. They're great people, they love what they do and they're passionate about making their students the best shooters thay can be. I had guys on my range who arrived as OK shooters but by day two were shooting some awesome groups.

AR's everywhere, lots of FaL's and Cetme's, some SKS's and 10/22's and even AK's (I brought two..). First guy to earn a rifleman patch was shooting an M1A, super accurate, awesome shot. Ages ranged from little gilrs who came with Dad to some crusty old guys who can still shoot out a 1" square at 25 yards with a rack-grade Garand and Greek ammo. Under age 20 shoot free, plenty of girls/women there so ladies, don't be bashful, grab a rifle and sign up for an Appleseed. The range in Davenport, Florida was nice, great group of people running it, lunch was awesome, and having cows free-roaming on the range was sort of surreal, a memorable experience.

Anyway, I came away from the weekend sore, but a much better shooter than when I arrived. I can't wait for the next Appleseed to roll thru Florida, I'm definately attending again. It's time to sell one of the AK's and buy an accurate rifle...maybe a Garand!

Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the event.

Kymasabe .........

is a pretty modest guy....I did not see anywhere in his post the mention of the fact that HE earned his Rifleman patch this weekend !!!! Perseverence REALLY payed off !!! Congrats !

Guys like him are why we do the road show, and through guys like him we will re-build this country as a Nation of Riflemen. If you miss the chance to attend an Appleseed youve really missed alot !

I had an absolutely great time, and it was a pleasure meeting mkh100, Jr. Birdman, RifleWoman, Fred, and all the rest. I learned more in just one weekend than I have in a long time. Not just about marksmanship, but also about what it means to be an American.

While I did not earn that Rifleman patch this time, It's not through lack of trying, and certainly no reflection on any of the instructors abilities. I encourage anybody that has a chance to attend an Appleseed to go. It's money well spent... you definitely won't regret it!
