Other ways to protest having to show an ID

I do two things to avoid 'showing an ID'

1) I leave my driving license in the visor of my car (I've forgotten my wallet a few times, but never forgot to take my car wherever I was going). If someone I don't care to cooperate with really, really needs to seem my driving license when I'm not driving I hope they have on comfortable shoes, I've got a bit of short term memory loss and sometimes don't know exactly where I parked or even if I drove or walked to the store that day.

2) I went ahead and got a Passport Card from Uncle Sam. It's government issued identification that doesn't reveal my home address to the merely curious. Officer Friendly wants to protect his home address, I don't see why I shouldn't be afforded the same protections.

Not at all HSO, its quite serious its only mocking Hillary's sincerity about devotion to rights.

The point is interesting. If Hillary Clinton is arguing having to show an ID to vote violates a right, voting, something not enumerated in the original Bill of Rights, then clearly forcing anyone to show an ID, background check, registration additional fees and taxes to exercise that right is an infringement. Time to call them on it.

It is an interesting talking point to contrast advocating against id for voting and insisting on documentation for firearms purchases or carry, but we need to be careful since most people dont consider the Constitutional issue and wont see anything ofer than a question of safety involved. How would you put that to use? What sort of plan can be built around the idea?

What plan? Make sure they know what an imbecile they are for not considering Constitutional issues. Most things most people pitch a fit about are the result of unconstitutional laws, policies, over-reach, etc.

1911guy is right. We have two Supreme Court decisions affirming the Second Amendment is a Constitutional right. Heller and McDonald. As for safety, I think a good case can be made that as a nation we were much safer in the days of mail order gun sales. I love showing people my grand dad's old copies of the American Rifleman from the early 60s, they had no idea you could buy guns mail-order. The are also stunned to learn the AR-15, CETME and FN FAL (evil black guns) were available mail order as early as 1963. The FAL in the late 50s.

Rock their world with facts and reality, its great fun to make them think.
