Recap/update

I know this problem isn't from ammo, recoil spring, guide rod, magazine, or me. I have been shooting this gun for years & have 3 of the P series. I have another Ruger that some parts will interchange & switched the triggers out & the problem got better as far as functions check. Even though the two parts look identical they have different part numbers so I am not shooting it with the donor trigger. It does confirm my thoughts that the trigger slide lock & the (like in a better name) retainer coupler on the bottom of the barrel are wore out & causing the problem.

The slide lock is stainless steel & I can fell a ring wore around it so the mild steel it goes through must be wore & I'm not sure what the trigger is made from but I am sure it has a lot of ware itself.

If I get time to call tomorrow which is Monday, I will see if I can get some new parts.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It has been encouraging to get me to take the time to look at it & study it some.

Spoke to Ruger today & he told me that this gun & another one of my P series pistols have the wrong guide rod in them. The guide rods are the ones that came from the factory but they want to sell me the right ones & said those should have never have been in there. They don't cost that much but if they built it wrong why do I have to pay again for the right part? All of my P series pistols have the same barrel links & guide rods & I can't see them all being wrong from the factory but if they are I think it is wrong to charge me for them.

I am waiting on a call from the manger which it didn't sound like they wanted to let me talk to her. I will say that he was very well manured & easy to get along with though.

Working (Somewhat)

Ruger sent a guide rod & barrel link. I installed them & did a function check. The slide is traveling all the way forward now but it still catching. The trigger & slide release still needs replaced but it cycles now & shoots great.

I have been dealing with Ruger for about 12 years & I will say they have always been the best @ customer service until this round. Maybe they are just having a bad week.

I do remember a recall for guide rods about the time I bought mine but mine wasn't covered at that time. Maybe mine was overlooked. Anyhow mine had all original parts & these look nothing alike.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
