P99 QA Safties?

There is no "manual" safety. The trigger safety prevents the gun from firing unless the trigger is purposely pulled throught the short cycle. It functions like a Glock in that regard. If one is in a possible gun grab situation, simply press the decocker, all that is necessary to return the gun to firing mode is pull the slide back 1/8" of an inch. It is an excellent system, at first the trigger may seem a little gritty, but will smooth out after a couple hundred rounds-something that anyone should do before depending on a semi auto pistol anyway.

The reason I don't like the QA is the decocker on the top of the slide still functions, and if you should hit it, the gun is out of action until you partially retract the slide (full cycle would be better under stress, but then you'd eject the chambered round).

I don't see any reason why the AS version un-decocked would be any different or less safe than the QA and you have the option of a longer and heavier first pull by using the decocker if you were concerned about it.
