I have been looking for a Walther P99AS for around $500 - $550 to no avail. Internet stores that do have them are listed over $600. Box stores even more. That is stretching my budget.

I have noted that the Magnum Research MR9 (which sells for less) is a clone of the P99AS. I am wondering about the likes or differences between the two, good or bad. If the reports are good on the MR9 I might just as likely get one. Any information is appreciated.

TIA

If the MR9 is licensed from Walther, maybe it is worth a look. My Walther P99AS is a superb pistol for sure. You can read the review I made if you want to waste some time...

Does anyone have any insight as to when a new shipment of P99ASs may hit the shores?

Walther only ships pistols over in batches at certain times of the year. If supplies run out before the next shipment arrives, there is a "drought" until the next shipment. I have no idea how many times a year they ship pistols over, or when they do, but sometimes it can take months for dealers to get P99 pistols in stock. For years, this has led to people spreading rumors of "the P99 had been discontinued" to the point where this linked thread has been made a sticky on the P99 section on the Walther forum.

The P99 is still in production and P99 pistols will show up somewhere sooner or later. If you really want a P99, I suggest you wait it out.
