I own a number of polymer framed handguns, and in that catagory of questions for which the answer is a vaguely defined want, I am curious if there is a way to paint the frames. I find the colors most manufacturers who make polymer framed guns offer to just mis the mark for me in appeal. Also being a CA resident, not all are available to me.

What type of paint and process is the most durable?
Does it effect the performance in any unanticipated way?
