I'm not certain if this is designed for brand new owners or not, but Pat is an awesome instructor, and I'm sure he could work with you. It might even be easier for you, since you probably won't have the bad habits the rest of us have already developed. I just sent Pat an email, and I'll follow up with him about your situation.

Regards - Brad

hey thanks, brad.

i've heard about pat a lot. love his articles in SWAT. pat is based at gunsite, TR or something, right? i'm going to check out those sites and look for his couse.

Pat is one of the true gems in the training industry and is highly recommended. I have no idea if this is the same class as the one I sponsored last year but if so, it's a bit advanced for a beginner in my opinion. We had several people with 10+ years of LE experience who were stretched by the curriculum although they made it through. Contact Pat and/or the course sponsor and see what they think.

We had two beginners in last year's class that sorta held the program up.

Can you make it down to Quantico a coupla of times before the course? That way I'll have a chance to spin you up on things before game day.

1911SFOREVER,

i could definately make it down to quantico for a few carbine pointers. actually, i would really appreciate it. the last think i want to do is hold up the class.

i just to let you know what my previous experience is: i've been shooting handguns for about 3 years. mostly idpa and ipsc. i've taken 1 tactical pistol course weekend class and a high risk environment class by TFTT. i am signed up to take a 5 day tactical pistol/shotgun course at blackwater this june. i'm picking up my first ar15 this week. i'm hoping to learn how to properly shoot it this summer.

i'll PM you w/ contact info.

thanks

BTW, don't wear your hightop basketball shoes, or Pat will make you hold them up in front of the class.:uhoh:

Hmmm...that may explain Cap'n Ken's and Pat's comment when I mentioned I'd had dinner with you when I walked in on the 31st :D
