I Whipped out $250 at LGS for a cherry 10 ga. Pedersoli (both the store nor I knew what make till I researched it after I bought it ) that had the barrel cut back to about 16" to the mid bead and front ram rod ferrule. The ram rod is there and does lock in. . I loved this little gun from the moment I saw it and I guess I got a great deal as new they sell for about a 1000$ . and other than the nice job of cutting the barrel and ram rod off is about as new. My question is : the bore mikes .768" and 10 gauge wads are .773 and 11 guage wads are .762 . I am buyng the treated felt ones from Dixie and the over shot/owder cards. . 11ga or 10 guage ? I reload for 10 guage shotguns and the ballistic steel shot wad cups are too big to slide down uless I cut off the petals, then fit about correctly. I don't really want to use them but I have a lot of #2 and BB steel shot , the gun has chrome bores and Pedersoliu says ok for steel shot BTW. Anybody play with one of these ? I am gonna start off with 15 00 buck and 90 grains of FFG with a .250 over powder wad then a felt cushion then stack the buck followed by another felt and the an over shot card wad. Sound about right ? The gun reads " 109 grains powder and 1 1/2 .oz max load" on it.. :D:D It takes a #11 cap.

Is yours a double or single barrel? I have a Pedersoli double 10 gauge, chrome barrels, removable chokes. Loads for mine could be way off for yours. I have a harder time with over powder and over shot card wads because of the chokes, so I just use 10 gauge lubed felt wads. Two over the powder and 1 over the shot. I pretty much use a 3 dram square load of powder to #4 shot, maybe a tad more shot than a square load. Patterns good for squirrels and rabbits. I have a hankering to get turkey with it, so need to experiment some more.

Absolutely get the 10 GA ones. The 11 gauge ones are going to mike under, you don't want that.

.005" over the bore diameter should be a good fit. You could probably even go a bit over. Don't get the 11 gauge ones if your bore mikes at .768.

BTW, AWESOME price on a 10 gauge Pedersoli!! Love those old front stuffer twin pipe coach guns. :D

Yeah a double and I LOVE it ! For $200 more I also got a great condition Uberti 1849 Wells Fargo model .31 revolver today from same collection. I doubt I will shoot that pretty little thing . Got 200 pre treat 10 gauge cushion wads from dixie and putting 2 over one card overpowder and one cushion over the shot. That will get me started. I found I have 3 pounds of FG Dupont stashed. So it will be 90 grains of FG Dupont , with 15 00 buck shot, to start . Probably will go down in charge and not up if that does not do well at 15 yards shilo.

If you look down the barrel with a strong light....does it have a recessed powder chamber? My Kodiak .72 (very similar type setup) has recesses that take about 110 grains to fill to the point where the ball will contact it firmly and won't shoot for beans until then. If yours doesn't like the 90 grain charge...you might be better off going UP rather than down.:) Blackpowder doubles are just plain cool.

Thanks guys , yes those Dupont round cans are old, but clean and were stored 35 years by me. It looks clean ! It does have the reduced powder chambers.

What's nice about those Pedersoli shotgun's is they have chrome lined barrels.

I have one of the very early guns imported by Navy Arms, it is in 12 gauge and weighs in at about 5 1/2 pounds. Very nice to shoot with standard loads.

wow I love that 410 you have I bet its fun to hunt squirrels with?? I been thinking on buying one of those 10 guage bp shotguns for a long time they are high at Dixie gun works but man looks like fun! :)

I need to proof the .410 before I go shooting it. I had a gunsmith fix a breech plug on it, and it's ready to test but I just haven't had the time yet. Will be a great squirrel and rabbit gun. That's the plan anyway. I would definitely go for a 10 gauge over a 12 or smaller. With the 10 gauge bp shotgun, you can pretty much get modern 12 gauge performance.

i have a pedersoli 10ga double and a pedersoli .50ca. double, i have not fired either one yet. the 10ga is very light compared to the .50 i think they are one of the best repo makers. i just have not had the time to shoot them. eastbank.
