how much does the PC SW1911 differ from the non-PC SW1911?

my understanding is that the PC is fitted tighter with more hand fitting and tuning involved. so can one buy a SW1911 and have it later tightened up to become the equal of the PC model?...or would it be cost prohibitive?

thanks in advance for sharing the knowledge

9mmepiphany: You would be many dollars ahead to purchase the PC model if thats where you want your weapon configuration to end up. In house original work is cheaper than after market send backs.

Kimber has proven what a customized 1911 market is worth out there.

30 years ago I purchased my first stock Colt 1911. Ithen had it customized to the way I wanted it. I spent a small fortune for a weapon I had to wait almost a year for. And then send it back for re tune. It was always dependent on a gunsmith to assure reliabilty at some point. It was a duty weapon that was fired a lot.

I purchased a Kimber a few years ago and outside of upgrading the grips all I've done to that weapon is shot the living snot out of it. And it keeps on being reliable and accurate. It was nice to buy it factory fresh with the bells and whistles I wanted fitted at the factory new!!
