Afternoon 'gents,

Just swung by the local gun shop and was able to hold an XD45 compact for the first time. Damn! That's a fine handgun, and it's very cool to have the two mag sizes.

Here's my n00b question: the fella there is offering a nice package of the XD45 with a 10 and 12 round mag, the mag pouch, speedloader, and holster for $550, meaning I could be out the door for $588.

What do you think? Worthwhile? I've got a 1911 loaded on my hip now, and had originally strolled in for a 9mm something, but this was a quasi-mystical experience!

Thanks,
alpinewhitey

I paid $535 before taxes for my XD45 Compact, so the price is about right I guess. They all come with the 10 round mag, plus the 13 rounder, with the speed loader, and holsters for the mag and pistol. I don't know if you thought that was a special package he was offering. You won't be sorry you bought it if you decide to go for it.

I live in metro detroit, and haven't seen one for much cheaper then that (i think the going rate around here is something like 546 or so). You could possibly find it for less online, but as far as i can tell thats about where the price should be. Btw at the local gun shop today i rented one for use on the range, and thats one fine piece of plastic:)

I'm biased

I work there but we have 4in xd.45's in green and two other models for $459.65 @ budsgunshop.com , My name is Marty drop me a message if I can find anything out for you.

Oh no, a Bud's guy!

You lovely people out there are going to get a P2000 out of me probably as well! Great prices on everything! Good to know about that - I'll have to see if the local base has its FFL yet - if it does, then I might have to buy them both!

Thanks for all the replies, fellas. I appreciate it. I hope the local range out here gets some to rent - they haven't updated their rental selection in as long as I've gone there - about a year and a half!

I don't know where you are located, but Vance's in Columbus OH has the XD-45 for $449 with 4 mags.

Great price, as I paid $469 about 1 month ago.

Regards!

Too far east, unfortunately

That IS a good deal there in Columbus, however it's a little under 800 miles away! I wish we had some good deals like that in Nebraska!

Best,

I paid $495 NIB for mine at a gunshow. It's a nice gun and plenty accurate. Couple hundred more rounds thru it and it will take over as primary CCW for my Kimber 1911.

XD replacing Kimber?

Goodness, that's quite an endorsement!

As a result of the spiralling crime in my neighborhood (spate of daylight or afternoon home invasions w/weapons), I have taken to carrying while in the home. After several hours, my loaded Springer 1911 can get a wee bit heavy, though it's only really noticeable when I first put it on and take it off. I'd like something lighter like the XD to port about the home, as well as CCW (either that or an HKP2000) when I finally get my permit.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and advice!

The Kimber is a fine weapon. I love the 1911 and how it shoots but the XD is a bit lighter and carries a couple of extra rounds.

Besides, I want to keep the Kimber in good shape and not have to worry about holster wear or any scratches/dings associated with carry and dearming when going into non carry places.

The XD won't get the respect that the Kimber does.;)
