Phoenix area THR members

The thread about Phoenix gun stores and the repsonses it recieved got me thinking. I thought it might be fun to get the Phoenix area THR members together at the Ben Avery range for a chance to meet and of course do some shooting. With the temperature cooling off we have some great mornings ahead to get out there. If this sounds at all like something you might be interested in please respond to this thread and we can work out the details. Best to all, Mike

I think the Rio Salado range would be a better choice because folks from southern Arizona wouldn't have north of Phoenix to get together with us.

I'm not familiar with the Rio Salado shooting range but if it is more convenient and as nice as Ben Avery, why not?

Thanks to all that have responded and have shown interest in the get together. In order to keep this coordinated and to keep everyone informed, my suggestion is to schedule a tentative date and then confirm that date with a repost the week of the meet. I know it will be difficult to accomodate everyones' schedule but hey, we can get together more than just one time. In fact it might be nice to plan something like this every 3 or 4 months or so. My experience with the Ben Avery range is that during the week is by far the best time to go there, particularly when the weather is nice. It does get very crowded on weekends. I have the flexibility to meet on a Friday or other weekday as long as it isn't too often. I'm thinking that we should schedule it for either later in October or early November. Please state your preferences and availability and I will stay on top of it to make sure it happens. We can do this. Best to all, Mike

End of the week sounds good, late oct early nov would work. I have an area that could work but it's out in Rainbow valley(west side of and south of estrella mtns) PM me if that sounds like a plan

As a member of Rio Salado I have a key to the range, if we set a date and get firm RSVP's, a couple of us could get in early and set up on a few benches before the public range opens.

The cost to shoot at Rio Salado is $6 for non-members. There are a pair of traps on the west end of the range for those who feel inclined to break some clay. There are no limitations on what firearms can be fired, but tracer ammo is verboten. Class III is okay as well, except on Sundays to keep the range neighbors happy. .50 BMG are allowed and owners are encouraged to share with me. (Okay, I added the share with me part. )

I'm all for meeting at Rio Salado if everyone else is. How about we try and set a date? Let's get those who can make it involved and see what happens after that with other members.

These are the dates I currently have available within the next few weeks:

Oct. 10 & 11 a.m.

Oct. 24 & 25 a.m.

Nov. 7 a.m.

For those of you that have expressed an interest please P.M. me with your availability and we will set up a time and date from there based on the majority.

So far we have 11 people that are interested in getting together for some shooting fun and camraderie. I'm making the suggestion that we schedule this for November 1 (Saturday) early in the morning. I hope that this date will be agreeable to all of you and will accomodate the majority of members. I also think that blades67 suggestion to meet at the Rio Salado Range is a good one.
