Picked a Glock up in my hand today...

I love my Glock, but it is a bit stiff and emotionless...like the Mr Spock of my gun collection.

Hey...Spock -- Glock...maybe we're onto something here

I don't like Glocks that much either, but it's mainly aesthetic. I use them from time to time for work/training stuff, mainly because the simunition adapter for a 1911 costs as much as an entry level 1911, and they seem to work well for me. For SD stuff they are plenty accurate and reliable, and I shoot them just fine. I have to really focus on trigger pull and sight picture, though. I wouldn't want to take one to a bullseye match.

I'd never buy one unless there was some reason that I couldn't use a 1911 for something and I couldn't get a loaner Glock.

I definitely agree about the soulless thing. It's an effective and inexpensive tool. I have about the same emotion about buying a Glock as I would about buying a shovel. I would also have about the same emotion about losing it: dang, I gotta buy a new shovel now. A royal blue custom Colt 1911? Want!!! NEED!!!!

Ergonomics works different for each individual.

However, compared to more contemporary designes such as M&P, P30, PPQ, etc., it is not as refined. For a gun that appeared nearly 30 years ago, it was not bad for the 1980's standards.

I caved soon after I bought my first poly pistol.... The grip angle didnt bother me.... However, I was the proud owner, of what had to be Glocks only lemon produced since the dawn of the internet. (G17 NIB G3) it was literally worse than a Taurus .38sp that Light stikes/FTF every couple rounds, that I inherited. Less than 100rds of PDX1's I sold it.

I, too, hated the way the Glock 17 felt, first time I picked it up. I also thought it was ugly, to boot. I only rented it to see what all the fuss was about.

But lucky for me, I actually shot it. I left with a surprising level of appreciation for the ergonomics. It was years later when I actually took my first Glock home. Even though my first and only handgun was a 1911 for many years, I now prefer ALL of my Glocks' ergos to any 1911.
The more I shoot my Glocks, the smaller the grip feels.
This! The other guns start to feel too thin!

On the flip side, the first time I picked up a Beretta 92F, it felt great. But while actually shooting, I didn't like the grip.

Over the years I handled the different generations of Glock pistols, based on the feel,I never wanted one. That was until I went to a pistol club intro to IDPA and USPSA class. there I was given a G17 to shoot. Glocks work a lot better than they look, or feel. 5 Glocks later, only my 1911s out number them, SIGs used to but I even traded a P226 for a Glock G35. Thought I would miss the SIG... can't say I do, or the CZ PCR I traded for a G19, may trade my SIG P232 two tone for a G20 SF they have at Bud's, hmmm.

I think they feel great. I've never met a Glock [model] I didn't like or eventually own.

Picked a Glock up in my hand today... and I put it right back down. That's just about the most uncomfortable gun I've ever held. It could be because my hands aren't that big. Just too blocky and no real ergonomics to speak of. Kinda like if you built a gun for a machine to hold. Anyone else feel that way about Glocks? Anyhow, the M&P I bought is really comfy. I think S&W took the Glock idea and did it one better ergonomically.

Your M&P is the best handgun ever made. Not the M&P line mind you, your specific M&P. It beats Glock hands-down. There... better?

if you pick up a gun and dont like the feel just move on. maybe you will like then gen 5 glocks when they comeout

Other than the thickness, I have no problem with the grips. They usually fit my hand fine, except for the full size .45 (22?) which I found to be a bit to thick.

I've yet to find a glock that I could hold comfortably. Not even the Gen 4s. Maybe if I tried a slim frame it would be different, but they all just feel like a bar of soap in my hand to me.

I've Shot Glocks since the mid 80s and never had a problem with the grip, come to think of it, I can't remember anyone crying about the size of them until the internet experts started claiming they are ( Bricks or 2x4s or Blocks ).
and can't believe so Many men today can have such tiny little Girly hands that they can't reach around the guns grip,, hopefully they never find themselfs with nothing but a glock or they 'll have to just throw it at the attacker then run away Crying...

As this is heading into casting rude comments at each other, I guess we're done.

Seems I've heard the matter discussed before...
