Boy I sure do like this thing. From tracing the serial number, it was made in 1952, and is in original, unfinished condition, around 90%. I'm really looking forward to dove/quail season with it as I've heard that this is really a very choice gun for bird hunting due to it being a 16ga built on a 20ga frame.

My dad bought me a used Model 12 in 16 gauge for a high school graduation present.
I used it as my grouse gun for many years, and also took a couple of geese, and a three-point buck with it.

It fits me very well and is a great gun. There isn't much finish left, and the stock is dinged and scratched, but I wouldn't change it.

my father keeps talking about knowing were to get one in 16 gauge. but he wont tell me cause he doesnt want me to buy it before him. :p we already have model 12's in 12 and 20. gauge. my 20 gauge was made in 1913

I like the gun alot. I'm not a big fan of the choke (full :( ), but it's not like I'm gonna find a barrel for it either.

Now all I gotta find is a A5 Sweet Sixteen and an A5 Light 20 and I'll be ok.

Love 'em! I've got my grandfathers Model 12 sweet 16, manufactured in 1927. Finish is completely gone and stock looks like it's been ball peened but, it's a keeper.

The model 12 in 16 ga was my first shotgun. I still love it.

t fits me very well and is a great gun. There isn't much finish left, and the stock is dinged and scratched, but I wouldn't change it.

ACP230,

You just describe my gun. The gun has a lot of great memories for me.

I have my grand dads as well. Saddly I had a almost major accident with this gun back in the late 80's. I would go and hunt by myself on one of several large farms in S.E. Nebraska that I had premission to hunt on. One dreary fall day I tried to cross a fence and the gun fell over. I did not notice that the barrell had gotten some snow, mud, gunk, not sure what in it. Well not more than 5 minutes later I had a cock bird go up in front of me. I pulled the trigger and heard the wierdest sound in the world. The barrel opened up 8" from tip and shot all the shot straigh up in the air.

Needlss to say this shook me up pretty bad. Still have the gun and plan on getting her fixed some day soon.

That was one of the purest shooting upland game guns I have ever had a chance to shoot.. Good luck with yours.
