Picked up my New (to me) Mark II today - Pics too

So in this prior thread http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=431500 I gloated about the coolest Mark II I had ever seen. Well today I went and bought it with a piece of my IRS return.

So how did I do? Its a Used Mark II Government Target and my out the door price was $299

I have not taken it to the range yet and I dont know any history on it but so far I like it, the magazine looks like it has significant wear on it so if it give me any issue I may pick up another mag.

I have been told that the barrel comp is aftermarket but don't know anything more.

Also if anybody knows how I can run the serial number to check for a date of manufacture that would be great.

The barrel comp is after market. I had one on my 5.5 inch bull barrel MK II Target. I didn't think it did anything so I took it off and put the original front sight back. I think the comp is a Volquartsen product. I did do the Volquarsten trigger and sear mod to mine which made the trigger excellent.

The compensator is indeed aftermarket, made by Volquartsen. The Government Model is one of the most accurate MKIIs around. You did really well. Here's a little more information.
