Let me start by saying that CDNN investments was great...This was the first time I have ordered from them, and it was a great experience.

As for the Autauga...I picked it up today, one Autauga 32, one extra mag, $219 bucks on my credit card from CDNN. $25 dollars for the transfer fee at the local store I had it sent to.

Took it (still in the box) to the gun range a couple miles away, and immediately qualified with it to have it put on my CCW. First time I shot it was the beginning of the qualification. Performance was pretty good...Had ONE jam in the 28 rounds I needed to qualify...a little bit of a nose dive...no biggy. The manual says it needs about 100 rounds for break in. BTW, ammo was what the range provided me with for qualification, Mag tech fmj .32....and apparently you are not supposed to shoot fmj through it...but i didnt see that until afterwards. That little rule seems odd however.

3 yards, and 7 yards are right on target...15 yards started to get iffy....I shot low and to the right consistently at 15 yards....I mean WAY low...and WAY to the right...I think a couple missed the paper completely. So I have decided that this is not my 15 yard gunfight weapon.

OUCH!! DAMN!! Little bastard bites!! Hard!! I didnt have a problem with slide bite, but this gun is so snappy that the bottom of the trigger guard likes to nip you in the knuckle with every shot. One word: unpleasant. Didnt draw any blood, or even leave any marks, so maybe I am just a baby...but the guy that was monitoring my qualification took two shots with it, and handed it back saying, "you can KEEP it".

So I have also decided that it is not my range gun...
Next time I shoot it, my knuckle with be thouroughly wrapped in black tape/band-aids or whatever I can find to soften the blow. None of this surprised me however...I had heard from a couple people that it was a bit of a rough gun to shoot, so I was expecting the pain.

All in all I am very happy with the gun...The trigger was silky smooth right out of the box...It has a very crisp and long 8 lb. pull that is reassuringly positive. I dont think that I would worry about it going off in my pocket...as long as my Chap-Stick stays out of the trigger guard.

Anyway....it looks so nice it has already earned itself some bathroom-glamour shots...(seems like the bathroom has the best lighting for digital pics). I also frankensteined an old zip-around leather wallet to use as a holster...works real well. Ill post pics of that too.

I've never experienced the recoil problems you describe with mine. Maybe it is a function of the ammo the range made you use. The Autauga is HP only. I'm not entirely sure of the reason, whether it is a function of the magazine size or the chamber (or both) as FMJ rounds are usually longer than HP. Whatever the reason, stick to HP as it was designed for it and I'm sure they had a good reason to specify HP only.

I've used Gold Dots, Silvertips and Federal Hydrashok HP's in mine and have had no problems with reliability or excessive recoil.

Nice pics. I've handled one of these at a gunshow six months ago or so. Seems like a very nice little piece. As good a quality as the Guardian from what I could tell.

The problem with shooting FMJ ammo is that the gun is straight blowback. The heavier FMJ slug weighs more and may have a longer bearing surface in the barrel. These two things cause pressures to rise and can cause premature unlocking of the action. This would not be a good thing. This is how it was explained to me by the manufacturer many years ago.

Glad you are happy with you Autauga. I was surprized on the quality on mine. My dealer told me that one at 500 rounds, developed a crack on the left side of the frame, by the feed ramp, there is a V cut, go in there and make it more of a U cut with emory cloth or die paper. This will help not start a crack. Also, watch out when you disasemble it, the trigger spring will fly, it took me 4 days to find mine.
R.J. Hedley has nice quality pocket holsters for it, I got the back pocket one, and it's first rate quality, I might order the front pocket one next.
Mine stung too with hollowpoints, it's not a good gun with full power loads, I am going to reload some practice loads, well less than max.
CDNN does have some parts for it, and will guarantee it for a year, but it is a orphan gun, but the price is right.
