Having someone call in your firearm as stolen isn't the only possible misuse of a serial number. And as explained it's not really a viable scam. But I don't know all the ways that the government or a crook could misuse my serial numbers. Maybe it's some over zealous BATFE agent who is monitoring the internet. Who then runs every serial number that he comes across to put into the database. Crooks have much more time on their hands to think about this than I do. So why not just remove it? Or not.

Shouldn't really bother anyone either way.

I just use my DREMEL and grind the numbers off. That way you don't have to blur them out for the internet.

ATTENTION STAFF: We need a "Smilies Icon" wearing a tin foil hat....too funny!:p:p

By the way......I'm waiting for someone to post bank account and social security numbers.....no way anything can happen.....right?

Best to be safe and just grind them off the gun.
