Pietta 1858 with round barrel

I wonder if they are using a modified barrel usually met for a Colt SSA clone. Note the front sight, that would allow one to adjust the point of aim/point of impact for closer distances. They may have noticed what Ruger did with their ROA.
 
Isn't it a lot faster/easier/cheaper to make a round barrel rather than an octagonal one?
 
Nice looking gun. There is something about that long octagon barrel though that says you mean business. Think I still prefer it. OYE
 
There are a number of replicas made by the Italians that are manufactured only for the European market. They may be testing the waters in the European market, before trying the US market.

It looks to me as a Remington 5-1/2" blued Army model for possibly the cowboy action shooting interest. With a Kirst or R&D conversion cylinder substituted, it wil be the cat's meow.
