Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have any experience with Pioneer Gunshop in Bedford, Texas?

If yes, how is their gunsmithing?

I stopped by today and it seemed very promising.

The shop used to be located in Grapevine at one time and also in the Dallas area.

Any input is welcome.

Thanks for the help.

I'm sure he's fine.

But someone that's not too far away from you is Doc. He's on Sandy Lake Road, about 400 yards East of I-35E.

He's been in the same spot for over 25 years that I know of. He does absolutely everything you'll ever need done. Bring him a anvil, and he can make you a match winning .45ACP 1911 out of it.

But be prepared to wait. He has a back log of life long customers (and 'the hard to do stuff' from other local gun stores)who are used to normally waiting about 2-3 months to get stuff done.

You can probably find someone faster and even cheaper. But his work is most excellent, and his prices are more than fair for what he does.

Where is pioneer? I live right there and I've never heard of them....I usually get everything from SMR Firearms in Hurst. Sam and Sam Jr. are great guys.

It is the white building next to Binswanger Glass. The sign is in the window so it is rather low profile. They said they just moved to that location from Grapevine not too long ago.

Incidently there is another firearms place called Elite Firearms between SMR and Pioneer I have not visited. That makes three gun stores on Bedfore-Euless Road! Something in the water I guess. (laughing)

I have been to SMR as well and they have a very nice shop as well. Just smaller than Pioneer. Both owned by friendly and knowledgeable folks.

weekdays and nights are pretty much out for me. I work near 121 and central expressway so I don't get home til after 7. would have to be a weekend for me.

Well, just got back from Pioneer, he is still unpacking. Good guy who owns the place, real friendly. Pretty fair sized selection about the only thing that was mainstream that I didn't see was a HP, but I'm sure he has one somewhere.

Decent prices, I have no idea how negotiable he is on stuff but the asking prices weren't outlandish.

Grapevine? The guy was in Irving about 300 yards from where I work. Not surprisingly, on Pioneer Drive.

Anyhow, A.B. is a great guy. Most of my impulse purchases came from there. Some of his pricing is what one would expect from a small shop but he occasionally had some pretty good numbers. It was a pleasant place to hit on the way back from lunch. My checking account is doing much better now that y'all have him over there.

It’s a small "down home" shop - you won’t confuse it with Ray's.

Don't know much about the gunsmithing; he welded a few small parts for me that came out well. McClelland's gets most of my 'smithing.

What street is the shop on......

I have never heard of him. The only two gun shops that I knew of in Grapevine closed years ago.........chris3

If coming from 183 head South on Bedford Rd....he'll be a mile or so down on the right hand side in a white brick building next to an auto glass place. I think it is at the intersection of Bedford-Euless and Norwood.

I checked this place out last weekend. Nice shop, very friendly folk in there, and a pretty decent collection to peruse and buy.

McClelland's usually gets my smith work as well. Of course I live in Garland which is close to McClelland's. They have always been fair.

Now that I know there are a few more of you in MY town (bedford), when is the get together? :D

Oi - if there's gonna be a meet in the Hurst/Bedford/Euless area, I want an invite, please! Especially if the meet will be had over a beer or two ;)
