have been doing a little research, an came across a great deal of opinions and articles about a company that tried to get it passed into law(somewhere USA) that police would have to use gun mounted DVR's (digital video recorders) as a hedge against police brutality.
with the diversity of comments i found scouring the internet... i thought i'd post a topic. I thought about buying one, but i'd better do some thinkin first. what do you folks think?... is this a bad idea for fella to have on his night stand gun...just in case? or is it a good idea, a little extra backup evidence should the unthinkable happen?

i would be weary of such a device because the "evidence" could be used either way in a LARGE variety of circumstances.

A camera actually mounted on the firearm? What would happen to the picture if the gun is fired? If mounted atop the gun, what would you do for a sight picture? I think there are a few "bugs" in the idea. ;)

For strictly home defense, if you feel you must record it, you can easily set up video or web cams inside your house.

I'm not so sure it's not a bad idea. The technology is there. DVR could be mounted underneath the weapon, ala tac lasers, and that wouldn't interfere with sight picture...but I sort of struggle against "Must!" laws. I'd like to have the option, but I hate it when I have to.

I assume that all of you coming up with ideas about how to do it, don't know about this.

Rail mounted, manually operated, or automatically turned on when you remove it from a holster.
