Hey guys. When and/or If Obama gets elected hes going to push for a new permenant AWB. So in getting a jump on pistol buying Im wondering what guns I should buy now before they become banned?

Thanks

P.S. Any weapons ban is just ridiculous. Its been proven that it doesent affect crime rates. Man I hate politicians.

I don't see what the Average White Band has to do with your buying a handgun.

Seriously, buy what you want and don't let this overly concern you. Neither you, nor I, nor any of us, knows what will happen in the future. Also - just to add to the mix a little more - who knows if your existing over-10-round magazine handgun will be allowed to be "grandfathered?"

If anything, buy rifles. Actually, buy anything and everything you can. Stockpile, stockpile, stockpile. ;) Seriously though, I think the liberals have learned enough from the last half century of gun control and the first AWB that, if by some unfortunate chance another AWB comes along, you can be sure they will make it that much tougher or nearly impossible to "legally" own a gun. Anything is purely speculation at this point. If you want to be better safe than sorry, buy common and reliable stuff like Glocks, AK's, AR's, etc. At least that's the excuse I use to justify my continued spending on firearms. lol ;)

I used to think that hi-cap pistols and black rifles were pretty cool.

Then I realized that I can do anything that I'll ever need to with a shotgun and a revolver to back it up, or be there when I can't tote the longgun.

In order to fight my urge to spend lots of money on overpriced hi-cap rifles, and their magazines, I'm sticking with weapons that hold less than 10 rounds just to save myself from worrying that they'll suddenly become illegal.

Right now I'm shooting Remington 870s and S&W K-frames. Next week I pick up my Sig P6, then shortly after I'll be getting a P220. I'm building a bolt action Remington next year, and getting a Garand or two after that. All are great, capable weapons, in the hands of a capable user, but none are threatened by a magazine capacity. There are many great weapon systems out there that don't require a 15+ round capacity to be worth training on them.

Instead of spending a thousand dollars on hi-cap magazines, I'd rather spend a few hundred on a shotgun class and learn how to use a weapon that won't be going anywhere, even if they legislate a new AWB.

To add, I think that hi-cap weapons are great fun. I just have no use for them. Just because I'm not interested in something doesn't mean that I want anyone else's freedom to enjoy it taken away. I'm just trying to say that if it worries you that much, there are other options out there for training and self defense.

Instead of laying down and accepting any pending legislation, how about take the energy you would spend on shopping and use that to contact your reps so the bill would never pass?

I do not think there will be any great push for another AWB. The Democrats were thrown out after 1994 and they learned from that experience. If there is ever another AWB do not look for existing guns to be grandfathered. It will be like in Australia where they had to be turned in.

I do look for more laws to be proposed that will try to gradually chip away at our rights.

Barak Obama is a typical talking head politician--he'll likely say whatever fits the popular moment. I can't stand the man.

As with the attitude in DC, Obama would allow any municipality to overwrite The Constitution and invoke whatever local restrictions or bans to firearms, that they see fit. He has said as much on several occasions.

Given Obama's direction, Wiskonsin's SOS governor, Diamond--let's make a deal--Jim Doyle, would outlaw all handguns in our state. Doyle attempted as much as AG, in 1994, with Marxist Mayor, Paul--never left school--Soglin, when they tried to invoke a DC-style City of Madison Handgun Ban. Then Governor, Tommy Thomson, blocked the Doyle/Soglin initiative. Doyle was livid! :fire:

In fact, Doyle has already mirrored Obama in saying that municipalities should have the power to invoke their own gun laws--a meaningful statement since Lefty-Libs run everything here.

Instead of laying down and accepting any pending legislation, how about take the energy you would spend on shopping and use that to contact your reps so the bill would never pass?

The reason Lefty-Libs run everything here, is because the average Conservative Wiskonsin Cheese Head is too lazy, and too stupid, to get off his fat butt and do anything about the real world. They just watch their taxes go up, and belly ache about it. They save all their fight and enthusiasm for Packer games and American Idol.

Wisconsin lost 17,800 jobs this last year. And now, not a single major brewery will be headquartered in Milwaukee any more. Chicago gave Miller a 20-million dollar incentive to locate there. Milwaukee offered nothing. :scrutiny:

But hey, we've got one hell of a welfare state started! We advertise it on the radio! So long as you've got a kid or are pregnant, you've got it made here! Have you read Obama's thoughts on welfare?

We need McCain to win. Obama will be a disaster--like Jimmy Carter, only much worse! :cuss:

Rant over!

So true. I grew up in Wisconsin, and I was all pumped up about doing my part to change things. It didn't work, so I moved to a free state. It would take so much money to get me to live in Wisconsin, Illinois, or Nebraska thanks to their ignorant gun laws.

Sometimes you're just outnumbered, and in a Democratic Republic there is nothing you can do about it but move to a free state where more decent people reign.

Instead of laying down and accepting any pending legislation, how about take the energy you would spend on shopping and use that to contact your reps so the bill would never pass?

I do contact my representatives, but sometimes that doesn't succeed. I'm happy with my low capacity guns, I don't need to compensate for my inability to shoot with more ammunition.

Instead of assuming things, try asking next time, it's more "high road".

Here in Nazi Jerky, when Jimmy "One Term" Florio came in, they rammed through a ban that was retroactive. It required that one dispose of out of state, or render permanently inoperative, those firearms which made them wet their pants. (BTW, Curtis Sliwa supported this and appeared with Florio on his behalf at that time.) Compliance has been estimated at 4/10ths of 1%. Any firearm you may desire will always be available utilizing "alternate marketing channels".
