Places to shoot in northwestern NJ or eastern Pa?

Hey all, I've been lurking on THR for a couple of months now, but this is my 1st post. I was wondering If anyone knew of any indoor ranges in North western NJ or eastern Pa that rent hand guns. I'm off route 80 right before the Pa border. I'm waiting for my purchaser ID card and hand gun permit to come in (I dropped everything off on the 9th of Oct. but this being NJ I'll probably have another 2 or 3 months before I get them) and trying to decide what exactly to get. I'm leaning towards a Springfield Mil-Spec but I'd like a chance try out a few other pieces as well. So if anyone has a place within say an hour drive of Blairstown that they'd recommend I'd really apprieciate it. Thanks in advance.

I seem to recall a popular spot in the Mt. Pocono area - cant recall the name but had a nice range and even full auto toys if you liked??

Take 80 out to the Scotrun exit or thereabouts................

You have Shongum: http://www.shongum.org/ an indoor range in Hackettstown but typically a wait (months) to join. I don't think they rent guns.

Cherry Hill range run by ANJRPC (http://www.anjrpc.org) is an outdoor range where you can shoot just about anything, but again, no rentals.

There's a club in Paterson . . . . out of the way and in the wrong direction.

Thanks for the replies guys. Is The Firing Line in Whitehall still open? Do they do rentals? I tried calling but I just get an anonomous voicemail. I think we'll be driving by today in any case just to see. Does anyone know of any good gun shops in that area? I wouldn't mind browsing while I'm out there. Thanks again.

Not sure where Whitehall is; in Northern New Jersey, best places I have found to look at handguns are Rays on Route 22 (has a pay by the hour range too), and S Meltzer and Son's in Garfield north off 80, somewhere off River road.

Nice folks at both places, fairly large selection (for NJ) and decent prices.

I have done business with Ramsey Outdoor stores in both Ledgewood and Ramsey but frankly prices are not that great, selection is minimal and their counter help is patchy. Sometime you get a nice knowledgeable guy, most of the time you get a crochety nasty guy.

AFAIK Whitehall is still open. They usually call me once a year and ask if I want a yearly membership. They do rent guns but their ammo is crap!
