I recently picked up a Savage package .308 as a meat gun, and so far so good. It'll kill an elk for sure. My concern, after comparing it to a few other CF Savages at the range, is that it appears to have a plastic safety that the other guns don't. Is this a hint that the gunsmithing is different (cheaper) than that of the other rifles? Are metal safeties available aftermarket and compatable with my gun (the 10GLXP3 w/ Accutrigger)? I appreciate any input.
