Please help keep me from making ANOTHER mastake!

Once upon a time, I foolishly purchased a USA magazine. Truly, a piece of JUNK!

What is the opinions of the experienced with Triple K mags and with ProMags.

(I know MecGar to be good ones.)

Any other GOOD options?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that USA and Promag are the same. Could be wrong.

Have heard good things about Triple K, but I've not bought any.

Mecgar has done right by me, as has Wilson and CMC.

What make/model are you buying for?

I like to use the CMC mags or the metalform mags. I also purchased a dozen mil-surp mags from a fellow in Westfield, NY that sells military surplus items. His web-site is www.oldsargesdropzone.com . These mags had the witness holes in the wrong place and the feed lips were sharp, but niether of those mattered to me. I've been using them most of the summer in PPC matches and haven'thad any troubles with them at all.

For a higher end mag that I use for carry, I have been carrying the Wolff mags without a problem also, but I cannot say they outpreform the others in good concience.

critter,

I personally find when buying mags for Sig, or H&K, you will be far better off buying them direct from the manufacturer. German weapons just don't seem to function well with after market mags. They will cost more, but they work, and that's worth paying for. When the time comes to re-spring them, Wolff springs are the only way to go. The company is world renound for manufacturing only the finest springs. I personally wouldn't use any other spring in any of my mags, or in any other part of my weapons where a spring is required. I shoot .45 cal weapons primarily, and I change the recoil springs after approx 5,000 rounds. I have to say, I have never had a major malfunction in any of my weapons, and I attribute this to the Wolff springs, along with properly cleaning, and lubing the weapons after each use. Good luck.

SILENT ONE

I have universally bad experiences with anything made by USA magazines. ProMags have been a mixed bag. I have several polymer Glock ProMags that work just fine. Also have about an equal number that won't feed reliably. I have 6 ProMag 228 mags that have been flawless.

Never bought Triple K, but my understanding is that they are bad. Apparently, the biggest gripe I've heard is that the feed lips won't hold form (that's real bad - indicative of poor/lack of heat treatment).

My solution has been to buy factory whenever possible or, with 1911s only, buy Wilson or CMC Powermags (NOT Shooting Star).

I will run only factory in defense guns (exception is the aforementioned Wilson & CMC brands).
