This story was just on the 6 o'clock news, WWMT channel 3, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Apparently this happened last Sunday. Assistant mgr of local Burger King visited restroom to find a loaded handgun in the stall. The policeman that left it was passing through town and was 190 miles away before he realized he was missing the handgun. WWMT reported that the Saginaw state police post was investigating.

I searched http://www.wwmt.com/index.shtml website for the story but it wasn't there.

Maybe it is the fact I just re-read 7 pages of a thread where I am ashamed of some *ahem* responsible firearm owners *ahem* and how a well known person, whom is a member of THR with the initals Ayoob was treated...

Maybe it is the fact after about umpteen times to the nth degree of having read negative "Us vs Them" threads - just the ones about how Stupid LEO are, and how much Smarter Folks with all of 30 minutes of Training and the only reason they have they much training is they had to use up the rest of gift card and the store was out of energy drinks and baby oil ...

Maybe it is because my sinuses hurt...

Don't matter...

Folks, this may come as total shock to some, so set down any drinks, and swallow if eating...

LEOs are human beings. <gasp>

Like any professional, some shed a bad light on respective profession. Folks always pile on when this happens.

A Surgeon leaves a needle in a patient, Fireman leaves a wrench on a Fire Plug, Chef catches his apron on fire...

These Professionals may be in midst of a 18-36 hour shift, still not an excuse, still things get fuzzy running on adrenlin only, seeing, smelling , experiencing matters that would make most folks totally toss their cookies.

So noone on this Forum , rested, no outside influences, no distractions...has ever...
Left matches in the reach of a child....
...scissors,kitchen knife, back door screen unlatched where a child could get hurt...
never left a purse, wallet or company documents in a public bathroom , that could have resulted in stolen ID, or hurting one's company?

My abode does not have glass walls for a reason - I ain't perfect either.

"Closest Danger"

What a gun owner sees as the nearest danger to them is the police. In an area where it is possible it's a good idea to work with the police, to know them and be known. Local police are the ones that will be required to enforce unjust laws it pays to have them on the side of local people and to know they will be supported if they refuse to enforce them.
