Portable/Hand held deprime setup ?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know of a convenient, hand held deprime solution ? One that's fairly quick would be nice. I just came into about 800 30-06 brass and would like to deprime and prep them while sitting on my butt on the patio.

I know, I could do them on the Rock Chucker but I don't really want to move the bench or make a new mount for the press.

I know Lee and RCBS make hand priming tools, I was hoping some of you may have a easy solution to a down and dirty (hopefully relatively quick) depriming.

Any thoughts ?

Lee has a handheld press. I think you can use that with a universal decapper, or even a sizer die.

I have one and it is reasonable. I think Cosmoline has one and he really likes it.

I agree with the Lee handpress -- everyone should own one. You can not only decap and resize, but also do virtually everything while sitting in your den. (Of course, if that's crimped GI brass you're decapping and resizing, you'll also get a good workout for your pecs.)

The Lee handpress is my range press -- I use it at the range to work up loads. It's also handy to take on vacation -- find a P-dog shoot and reload each night in your trailer or motel room.

The Lee Handpress is obviously a good answer to your question. I have one and if you are going to deprime the cases using something like a universal depriming tool, it would work fine. If you are going to full length resize '06 cases, you are going to get a workout with that handpress: not much leverage.

I guess, a Lee Challenger Press with decapper/sizer mounted to a piece of plywood would do the job for less $ than Sinclair, used with a simple c-clamp.

if all you're doing is depriming and neck sizing, it's easy to find that in a hand-held setup. full-length sizing of a rifle cartridge usually requires a bit more muscle

Yes, and there's nothing wrong with that, andnow I need to buy myself one. Would be the perfect backpacking solution.
