I am planning to have CCR do a custom urban cammo look on my IDPA G17, but I am open to other patterns etc....

So, I want to see what you have done in the way of refinish work/custom finish work on any of your guns, regardless of who did it.

You asked for it...I had the frame and slide refinished with Tripp Research Cobra coat. Jess at Ontarget Custom Gun works http://www.ontargetcgw.com took care of bobtailing, stripping, replacing sear & hammer, crowning the barrel and doing a trigger job. Ain't it perty?

Refinishing guns is against my religion!

I think blemishes in the finish add character and help tell the story of my guns so sorry, i've got no pics for you.

Well - I guess y'all are expecting only 1911's but - I'll throw this fella in the fire!

Good ol Webley MkVI - which was in rough shape - more or less a set of parts. I had to get a new mainspring and also a rather inferior top-break lever spring from Brownells.

I prep'd all parts to get back to bare steel and then proceeded to go thru about 6 stages of fastidious de-greasing and cold blue applications - Oxpho or 44-40 - I forget which now.

Naturally the finish is not that tough but by keeping the gun always wiped down with my CLP cloth - it has retained this finish pretty well for about five years now - tho I admit it only comes out for food and water now and again!

Her is an old WWI Colt 1911 I refinished with Gun-Kote. It came out nice but it takes a long time for the finish to completly cure.
