I just started powder coating bullets. Easier than I thought it would be.
I have only coated pistol bullets so far. I have some rifle molds that will be getting some use.
Has anyone powder coated rifle bullets and determined the max velocity that powder coating will tolerate?
Is there any advantage to powder coating a bullet twice. I actually did this on my first batch of pistol bullets as I didn't get complete coverage.
Its amazing how little effort is needed to push the coated bullets thru the Lee sizing die.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Charly

Best I can help is that I have run some through my little .308 but it will only hit around 2550 +/- 100fps with factory ammo.

The cast I used were the Ranch Dog 170gr gcfp. I used a double coat on them, like you, just didn't get real good coverage with one coat. I loaded them using the minimum charge with Hodgdon reduced data for H4895 and a 165gr jackets load.

Can't tell you what the actual velocity was, but here is a little more info on it,

Hope that helps some.
