I put a 27" criterion barrel on my savage 6.5 cm & a 26" shilen barrel on my savage .270. I know that H4350 always seems to be the #1 powder for both of these rifles. Right now I shoot H4831 or IMR4350 out of my .270 and IMR4895 out of the creedmoor. I have some unopened Varget. My question is, will I notice a real difference if I bought some H4350?

You have plenty of barrel length, I would probably start with IMR4350, then move to H4831, which has some favor with the 6.5CM guys, too. If all else fails... Varget.

I have plenty IMR4350 and H4831 & 4831sc. 4831 hadn't even crossed my mind until now. Thanks! Appreciate it!

The most popular powders in my region for 6.5 in competition is H4350, Vithavouri N150 and Reloader 16. What makes these powders so popular is not only do they have the correct burn rate, but they are relatively temperature stable. Why go through all of the time and cost to develop a load in the winter only to find out that your load is no longer tuned in the hotter spring and summer months? Just buy the correct powder and go through your load development once. You can use the other powders for your barrel warmer and fouler loads
