have any of you tried any of these powders AA 2520, AA 2015BR, BLC-2, IMR 4895, IMR 4320, Varget, Win 748 and H380? Why did you or did you not like any of these?
I have and still do use 4895, Varget, and W748. I like them all, and I`m sure the other powders will get raves also. Use them in their appropriate place and all of them should perform well.
Varget requires more care to meter/trickle the exact charge weight if you use traditional powder measures. It meters wonderfully thru my Lyman DPS 1200-II and takes about eight seconds for a perfect measure.
(+) It does not require magnum primers, even in cold weather. Heavier bullets love it. Very consistent throughout temperature extremes even with the same primer.
(-) It's more expensive than most other powders in its class. Not the preferred powder for throwing quick charges.
BL-(C)2 meters almost perfectly thru traditional powder measures like my Lyman #55 (but it is horrible when I use the DPS 1200-II digital powder system because it slows things down to a crawl).
(+) Achieves some of the highest velocities among ball powders while keeping within SAAMI specs.
(-) can have some pressure issues (pierced primers) in very hot conditions unless you use the correct primer.
based on the powders selected for review i would guess he is loading for 223. but they are all good powders. my favorite among them would be BL-c2 as it is usable in such a large number of calibers. and its cheap to
