Or have used them for firearm issues? My finacee and I got their services thru our employer. It costs us $24/month for the two of us. Identity theft, wills, basically any legal questions is the main use for them. I asked the PPL rep about using a firearm in self defense and if I would have legal help. He said that would be a covered issue. Hmmm he could have just said that to get us signed up??

Anyway, anyone have Prepaid Legal for these reasons?

Beware...

The lawyers are lazy. They want the retainer from the corp and do as little as possible (ghee, does that sound familar)... Ask for the promised free letters and see what happens. Better to "know" someone from lodge, church, somewhere, someone you trust a little. Since most don't understand how the law works, you will still not respect the rat... but that is his job... to be your rat... how well he does, depends on how much he likes you. (or she...) luck. happy holidays.

My experience has been a little different: I've found the actual attorneys to be reasonably attentive and competent. Those few times I've used one, I've always had my work done to my satisfaction, and on par with what I'd expect from an attorney I had hired privately. The service, though, has sometimes been less-than-forthcoming about what's actually covered and what's not. In my opinion, it's worth it to have them available to you, even if all you do is have your will updated every so often.

I have seen several that exclude defending criminal charges, so even if you were in the right on a self defense case they might not take it.

Read the fine print.....

texans

Here is a firm in Houston, featured recently in the news somewhere:

http://www.concealedcarrylegal.com/

Just from the description, it seems like a nominal fee (120/year) to at least get STARTED on any possible defense you may need.

Anyone heard of them?

I use prepaid legal, it's offered here at work. My boss recommended it to me, he's used it many times with a lot of success.
