A friend and I are looking at pursuing some precision rifle training in 2005. Long-distance field shooting, ballistics, using the mil-dot reticule, range estimation, that kind of stuff. Field exercises would be a plus.

We've looked at Blackwater, Storm Mountain, Gunsite, and the McMillian Sniper School. Anyone who's been through one of these classes, what's your take on it? Any others we should look at?

Thanks,
Chris

Let me wholeheartedly recommend Dave Lauck of D&L Sports/Small Arms Training Academy.

He's the person the *military* turns to with their precision rifle questions. He also builds some of the finest long-distance rifles in the world.

We filmed Dave's INTERNATIONAL TACTICAL RIFLE COMPETITION (another SHOOTING GALLERY exclusive!!!) a couple of weeks ago, and it'll air in January. It was a magnificent display of pretty incredible shooting. Plus, we all got to shoot out of a helicopter...harder than it looks!

Took Chuck Taylor's "Urban Precision Rifle" in late May at Defense Associates in CT. While it was limited to 200 yds. due to the specific range and the overpopulated NE the 3-Day Course was well worth the effort & $.

FWIW, no one used a scope with a Mil-dot ret.
