I need a good source or direction for prescription safety glasses. I wear my regular glasses for IDPA but they don't really have good coverage. After getting hit with some fragments I feel the need for wrap around glasses. The few local shops don't carry them.

Thanks for any help.

see your eye doc

I have the same sort of prroblem..kinda. I have to wear safety glasses at work and need bifocals. I went for my annual eye exam and the doc was able to fit me with large frames that had side pieces that cover the gap between the lens and my face. They are quality plastic lenses and very sturdy and were covered by my health plan. I'm sure you can get them the same way. Hope this helps.

While waiting for the Rx to arrive, try some B-52 sideshields from Tasco. Inexpensive, and they'll provide wraparound protection while you're waiting for your Rx to get filled.

I'll second Lupinus, I have never heard of an optometrist or optician that didn't have access to prescription safety glasses. Depending on what kind of company you work for check with the safety department. Many companies will provide safety glasses at little or no cost to employees. My company will provide one pair of safety glasses per each union contract for union employees, others can purchase them at a nominal cost. I recently got new ones, since I haven't had any in a few years, even though they are not required for my immediate job. At the same time I ordered a second pair to use for shooting, even told me that was what they were for, that pair cost me a whole $49, with an upgrade frame. Told them I'll be back in the near future to get another pair with tinted lenses to use for sunglasses. Those will set me back a bit more because of the tint but even if I get premium frames it will probably be less than $100. Purchasing one pair from my optometrist would probably cost the better part of $200, if I was lucky.

I bought a pair of reading safety glasses from http://www.duluthtrading.com/
Not prescription but they work for me when I need safety glasses and need to read something at the same time.
About $20 if I remember correctly.
