I've seen a number of threads here highlighting press coverage of gun purchases since the election. And then there is a thread about prices going up and scarcity.
I wanted to remind everyone that this is a VERY good thing for us.
Everyone remembers the Clinton AWB in 1994. Practically everyone attributes the historic Democratic loss of the House and Sentate to one issue: The Clinton AWB.
1994 was the year that gun owners showed their strength and punished many legislators for passing that legislation. Many who were not passionately attached to the issue of gun control lost their seats because they were attached via a vote or by party affiliation. Political analysts and advisors have not forgotten this lesson.
The people that Obama relies on to both draft and pass any AWB legislation are reading the same articles as we are. And they remember one thing:
It will not be OBAMA that loses his job in 2010 if they pass an AWB. It will be them.
I encourage you to print the articles that you see about the increased gun sales, magazine sales and the amount of money VOTERS are paying because of this election. Send them with notes to your Congressmen and Congresswomen.
Ask them where do they think all that money will go if an AWB is in force? That's right-- into efforts to throw THEM out of office.
This could well be the beginnings of another whiplash from gun owners that has political consequences. Remind them of that!
You may well want to include a few articles about how the INTERNET gun community (which really had none of the voice we have now) dealt with Jim Zumbo over a Memorial Day weekend when the NRA and most corporations were not even in the office!
Never has the gun community had the tools and voice that it does today. In 1994, we united into a powerful force and severe consequences. Today, there is no excuse for not repeating the SAME thing.
