I was at a gunshop today (a nice one too, had all sorts of things, including anti tank weapons, not for sale though) and I ran across a MAK 90 Sporter with a milled receiver that looked in good shape as well as a polish M44. What are the values of these guns?

Anyone? This is killing me.

They wanted $450 for the milled receiver AK, and I thought that was extremely cheap for a Norinco. I thought they went for a lot more

And $190 for the polish M44. That may be a fair price, just not to familiar with the prices of the polish ones.

Good deals or about average?

I bought my '52 Polish M44 for $99. Had really decent wood, excellent mirror bright bore with sharp lands and overall machining was way better than my Russian M44's and M38. Was all numbers matching except the floorplate which was force-matched/pencil etched. Excellent shooter as well.
My local dealer has a used Norinco AK for $350.

Who is importing these Polish M44s? I have found 3 in various pawn shops. Gave one to my son and kept the 2 best looking of the three. Mine says CD SWAN VT in very small letters. Very nice looking Mosins, not the arsonal refinished from Big 5. Would like to find a 91/30 in this shape.

AFAIK, nobody is importing them anymore, just reselling them or clearing up old stock. The big batch came over in the late 90's and I don't think any more of them are coming.

Mint condition Polish M-44's are worth a lot more than a C note now. I'd jump at one under $300. But make sure that's what it us. The ones they imported about 8 years ago were MINT condition, as in never fired. The bores were perfect. Most of the other ones on the market have been knocked around a bit. It should have a big "11" in a circle on the receiver. Here's recent writeup on them:

They are by far the most accurate of the Mosin carbines.

It is indeed a polish one. The guy had it marked correctly and it had the 11 in the circle as well. It has blonde wood and looks really nice and I would love to buy it, but I am on a college students budget right now. I need to find a part time job to buy more guns... It's at Alleghany Trade Co right outside of Altoona, PA if any of you guys happen to be interested.

Why do people dig up these old threads! Is it just to make us feel bad at how much prices have gone up in the past two years.
