I'm helping my aging brother sell his excess ammo. In particular I need some advice as to how much should I ask for 3 boxes of 22 shorts, probably collectible ammo. I have 2 boxes of Federal Hi-Power 22 shorts with an old price tag of $1.49, which suggests they are 40-50 years old and an even older box of Remington Kleanbore .22 shorts. These are full 50 rnd boxes intact and in good condition. How much should we ask? I've seen similar ammo sell for about $15 at auction, but these are older and the boxes are in better condition. Also have several boxes of Remington CBee 22 Low Velocity 22 copper coated shorts. I'll appreciate any help you can provide.

You can ask whatever you want, but the collectability of mid to late 20th century rimfire in general is, well......not much. The right buyer might consider it somewhat valuable, but without going auction or sitting on it for some time, I think you'd be hard pressed to get much more than average price for new ammo, which is about $4/box.

Personally, I'd just look at it as old ammo to be shot in my model 24, wouldn't be inclined to pay any more than the sticker on the box. But I'm not nostalgic about containers/boxes of mass produced products, so take that for what it's worth.

The regular production stuff isn't worth much. RimfireCentral for all things rimfire.... I personally would just shoot it and forget about it as the few bucks it's worth isn't worth the trouble in general.

5 buks a box would be a good price. if I came upon your yard sale I would buy a box or 2.. maybe all of it for a discount.

at this time I don't have a use for shorts but mite in the future.

I have some old shorts I’ve been trying to sell. Strangely no takers.

Looks like I'll follow the advice to ask $5, then somewhat less for bulk buy. May keep the 2 oldest ones just because. Thanks for your input.
