Is it my imagination or have pre-ban AR's and Hi-Cap pistol mag prices started to fall in anticipation of the gun ban sunsetting?

Well the prices on some of the AWB compromise guns has dropped. The SL8-1 only costs $900 instead of $1300 now. I'm hoping that's because H&K is gearing up to produce a semi-automatic version of the G36 without all the 'sporting' modifications to appease the brady goons. :p

I too have noticed somewhat of a drop in price. I think it's mainly attributable to the slight decrease in demand because of the high probability that the ban will sunset.

And sellers wanting to get rid of their inventory before the price on their old junk drops to LEO hi-cap levels.

I'm not sure. I think the drop in AR mag prices is partially due to the arrival of the SA-80 magazines. When you all of a sudden have mags that are as reliable and more durable than the USGI 30's for around the cost of USA 30's the price is gonna drop. But I don't even buy USGI, strictly SA-80 magazines for me.

two issues, here:

1. the ban could sunset, and prices will drop...or it could not, and the prebans will be worth exactly the same, or more. Hard to read the tea leaves on what will happen, but at best it is a coin toss.

2. the immediate supply/demand issue. I dunno about anyone else, but I'm not buying any mags right now, due to how stupid I'll feel if I spend megabucks on something that could be quite cheap in a few months. If there are enough others like me, this will drive down demand, and price will follow. But this is all short term.

Prices on EVERYTHING are dropping. Economy is tanking, people don't have the flash money they used to, or if they do are scared to spend it.

This may be a factor in prebans going down, too.

Sorry to kind of get off topic here, but if the ban sunsets it's not until September of 2004, right? Or am I missing something, because I've seen a lot of people referring to it as just just being a few months away?

The economy is tanking?

Uh...

OK.

PS Look out for the sky, too...
