I may have a problem. I was starting to develop loads for a new .223 Rem rifle [well, new to me]. I had assembled about 20 rounds when I realized that I was loading CCI 500 small pistol primers. The load is a 52 grain speer over 24.0 grains of Reloader 12. So here is the question: Should I go ahead and fire the cartridges or should I break them down and start over?

Only 20 rounds?. Gosh. If you have the tool, just dismantle them. If you do not, they should be plenty safe to fire. :)

Pistol primers have a softer cup than rifle primers, I personally wouldn't want to have to worry about pierced primers. Twenty rounds won't set you back too far, pull the bullets and save the powder and pop the primers and start over.

I usually discover this kind of foobar after I've loaded several thousand rounds! I'd second pulling the bullets due to the softer cups on pistol primers. If you dont have a puller, remove the die from your press, run the ram up with a cartridge in the shell holder, grab the bullet with pliers, and lower the ram. The bullet will probably be damaged so you may need to toss it.
