Has anyone ever had a round goes off when you were loading it into a magazine?

It never happen to me but how easy is it for a round to go off? If you think about it, all you need is to hit the primer and it sends the bullet on its way.

depends.

centerfire arrounds out of a tubular magazine is risk, centerfire rounds out of a box mag, i wouldnt be concerned. it takes a decent amount of force to set off a primer and rough handleling rounds going into a mag shouldnt set them off.

that said. the REAL risk is with surplus ammo. thats where you have the possibility. like with anything old and chemical, if not stored properly it has the risk of deterierating to an unstable level

I've never heard of it happening, and personally think the chances are VERY slim to none that even "aggressive" loading of a removeable-type mag would cause a round to go off, but stranger things have happened for sure. Also, Hoppy590 does make a good point about chemical degredation.never really thought about that.Anythings possible, but I'm not gonna start wearing gloves and goggles to load my mags, so....

Never had it happen to me. I used to wonder if dropping a rimfire cartridge would pose a risk but have never personally experianced a problem.

I've never had it happen, and never even HEARD of it happening; since the primer (or compound, in the case of a rimfire) is fairly well protected, it takes a concentrated impact on a very small area to actually get that primer to fire. I HAVE heard of a number of instances of "ejector-firing", where a live round that is being ejected goes off because it manages to hit the protruding ejector "just so", but I have a hard time visualizing how someone could put that much energy into a round just by loading a round into a magazine.
