Pro-Active Approach to EO's....

Hi folks, I am not sure how well received this will be but upon reading the EO's (And they looked like I expected they would) I have to agree with some of them for obvious reasons; Enforce the laws you have... and education of the puplic is always a good thing.

The question is... who does the education?

Us... thats who. I just got off the phone with Senator King's local office and had a nice discussion with them. I indicated that as someone who is pro 2nd amendment and emphatically against any regulation of any ban, I am in favor of safe and responsible gun ownership through education as well as participating in the training and education of first reponders and educators (I am both a FF/EMT-I and an Adjunct Professor)

My theory is if WE are the ones doing the education it will be more relevant and it will get our names on the tounges of our legislatures. Senator King's office will be meeting this Thursday and the representative I spoke with from his office will call me back on Friday.

Obviously she had no answers as they were just listed, but now is the time to act. Let's show them that we too are serious about stopping gun related violence but we will NOT let the tools or the law abiding gun owners be the scape goats for their misdirected means and methods.

Flesh out your plan a bit more. Are you proposing that people that aren't certified as firearms trainers do this or are you suggesting that people get the NRA training and then do this? How can this be carried out so that we are the trainers/educators?

HSO... My initial thoughts are to embrace the following EO's....

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

There are already organizations and trained instructors for many of the items the above would address, but I am sure that to effectively do this nationally we will need more.

I am also certain that if any of this is to come to fruition it will require money. Likely in the form of grants, so getting out in front of these items with our representatives by starting the conversation immediately will put us in a better position to make sure that this is carried out effectively and led by the pro 2nd amendment community.

By getting on committees and developing plans at the onset we can start to change the sentiment towards pro 2nd amendment people by putting our money where out mouth is.

As a FF/EMT, Adjunct professor and officer in my gun club I feel as pretty strong about all of these items and how we can make a difference.

As a realist, I know that we will also have to embrace progressive elaboration but opening lines of communications with our local, state and federal representatives is a good start in my opinion.

Then, when we involve the support of the NRA and other organizations we do so with local leadership.

I am trying to react quickley to get out infront of my representatives to let them know this is just the beginning and we will be in this for the long run, instead of just complaining.
