Pro-Gun Blooger Does Some Turn-About

About a week ago when a New York paper published the names of all gun permit owners in the area as well as a google map of where their homes were located; here is the story:

So obviously that's didn't go over well, because that's like a treasure map for theives. Not-to-mention the real reason they did it is because they are anti-gun and they want gun owners to be "shunned". I even saw some crazy comments on DU about how people should sue the gun owners in their neighborhood for bring the property value down due to their making it more dangerous for owning guns. That's the kind of crazy that is out there.

So, as expected, there was a retaliation. Here is the article:

So a pro-gun blogger, using only information that is publicly, same as the NY Paper, publishes all the names, addresses, and links to facebook accounts, including their children, of all the journalists at the paper.

Now I'm not going to sit here and condone involving the children, but this is the real world. When you screw with people like the paper did, you're going to get screwed with right back.

This reminds of when Blizzard Entertainment started the RealID feature, where you can add whole accounts as friends and see their real name. In and of itself, not a huge privacy issue (because you can only add people by knowing personal information about them already, and because it is supposed to only be your friends you add), but they wanted to curb trolling in their forums by requiring the use of your RealID (your first and last name) instead of a character name when posting.

There was a huge cry of a safety issue regarding stalkers (I've had a few female friends on the game that would have had a HUGE problem with this) so one of the moderators tried to prove it wasn't an issue and posted his real full name on the thread. Within minutes, people had posted very personal information, including pictures, home address, phone number, family member names, etc. Needless to say, within minutes again the posts were deleted and Blizzard decided not to enforce real names when posting on the forum.

Seems the same applies here!
