Alrite this is my first gun i've ever owned....It's a ruger 10 22 carbine (nothing special haha) but anyways i bought it 2 days ago, and went to the range yesterday at first everything was fine then after about 60-70 shots the gun jammed once, i unjammed it and shot another 5-8 round no problem, then all of a sudden i had no response from the trigger, the bold was cocked back but it was like the hammer wasn't releasing (no click....no bang) so i got home figured it just needed 2 be cleaned (brand new gun even tho i cleaned it before my 1st shot) and still no click from the hammer whether it's loaded or not...and if it helps you any the trigger feels kind of rough and funny

it is new?

take the trigger assembly apart and put it back together. I bought a used one for $120 with this same problem. I took the trigger ass. appart and put it back together and it is 100% with about 2000 rounds through it since.

Also, did you mount a scope to it? I had a smith mount a scope to one of mine. It came back with lock tite in the bolt because the screw holes in the receiver go straight to the bolt. It was an interesting battle to get it to work again.

honestly i don't even know if i should....i mean i'm an automotive mechanic and it would be no problem with some directions....but its literally 2 days old....pretty much brand new.....i'm going back 2 the place i bought it and see what he says....if hes going 2 charge me or its not covered under warranty i'll definately pull it apart my self....thanks man i appreciate it....btw were can i find the directions for disassembly and reassembly of the trigger assembly?

btw interesting that you said that about the scope......yes i mounted one but didn't use lock-tite....but when i was at the range i used the scope at first, then i took it off 2 use the iron sites, and that when it started messing up....hmm....wonder if that has something 2 do with it?

You haven't said what ammo you used. I have found Remington bulk ammo so filthy that I will not use it in any autoloader. Six or seven magazines worth is more than enough to clog the works. When the honorary nephew was recently given a box of the stuff we kept the guns running with frequent, liberal, dousings of CLP. We quickly surrendered, though, relegating the Remington junk to the bolt actions and the pump. Could your rifle just need a good cleaning?

if you are a car mechanic you can figure out the trigger assembly with no problems. Now that you mention that you took the scope off, take out the bolt and make sure that there isn't any metal shavings holding things up. The 10-22 is probably the easiest trigger group to take apart and put back together. I'm really dumb and I figured it out.

i was using CCI .22 long rifle shots.....but thanks guys....i'll give it a good cleaning 2 night before i bring it back to the gun store..... maybe its just because its new...needs 2 be broken in and cleaned often?

About the only breaking in needed or noticeable is the trigger seating and polishing itself. Cleaning, for many of us, is an "at need" deal. Overcleaning, especially of rifles such as the 10/22 which must be cleaned from the muzzle, has probably hurt more guns than undercleaning.

CCI ammo has never caused me problems except at the cash register. I doubt fouling is the cause of your stoppage.

Hello friends and neighbors// If you dry fired or even had miss fire you may have pushed out the firing pin slightly// open bolt, push firing pin back in (I use something plastic) until you hear slight click, and it might be ready to go// common in marlin 795 .... good luck content

Did you put the screws back into the receiver? If not you might have some bad cycling issues because it will be letting pressure out of the screw holes.

Go with high or hypervelocity for awhile to break in all the springs. Stingers work great.

Out of curiosity, did you take the safety off? Or possibly put it on without knowing?

Go to www.rimfirecentral.com , they know everything there is to ever know about 10/22's.

Dookie,

Are you nuts? Or just don't have any idea how a firearm works?
There is NO pressure in the receiver. It is just a 'container' to hold all the necessary parts. :banghead:

I GOT IT WORKING!! i found that video on you tube about rebuilding the trigger, i rebuilt it (took about an hour) and it's working fine, i think there was an issue with that little spring about the trigger, and for some reason the hammer wasn't releasing....but its working now (try shot) so i gotta wait till next weekend at the range to see if it will hold up!....THANK FOR THE HELP GUYS!!

I had the same problem within 100 rounds of new on mine. One of the pins that holds the trigger group in place had walked just far enough to lose a spring, as I recall.
